My least favorite thing is when people say it’s not that deep. I’m not claiming we need to deep dive into every minor behavior or comment that someone makes. Sometimes it is not worth it. Sometimes you just have to live rather than think. But this does not mean it is not deep. You just have decided when it’s important enough to think about.
I am convinced that anyone who disagrees with me has just not thought enough. If you think about anything enough, you will understand it. (This is what my brain says – I tried to disagree, but then I thought about it)
Once you think about it, you will see that everything is deep when deep means meaningful. If you think that people do anything without a meaning, without a reason, you are wrong. Everything people do, they do for a reason – though these reasons can be intentional or not (aka conscious or subconscious). Because people do everything for a reason, everything is meaningful. Everything is that deep.
Example for further conversation
The reason you hate your body is because you were taught to. By your mother, and her mother, and her mother. And they were shamed by others, which is where the self-hatred took root. You are now the poisoned flower. What watered this flower? Media portraying women as objects to be analyzed and judged. Men being pedophilic and wanting young, hairless, “youthful looking women”. Now you can’t go a few days without shaving without resenting your own natural features, and others denouncing your gendered image. So when someone comments on the hair on my body, it is difficult for me not to ask why they chose pedophilic narratives. When women get cosmetic surgery, I cannot see past how anti-feminist it is. It is that deep.
